The Third Vote - Your political voice

The StuPa - Election

Why the 'StuPa' election?

In order to show the practicality of 'The Third Vote', an experiment in cooperation
with the student council was performed. The election of the student body at the KIT was suitable for our concept because it was also similar to the german general election. Therefore the first vote was for the candidate and the second one for the student party. In addition to that, all parties had to answer political questions of the 'Stupa-O-Mat'.

These questions and answers can be used to determine and analyze the political orientation and attitude of the parties and voters. The election tool place from the 4th to the 8th of July 2016.

What gets modified in the election?

There is no change in the real election. Participating in the experiment does not change the rating of the vote. We worked together with the election committee to ensure that the vote could not be hampered or got affected by any external circumstances.

What did the execution look like?

During the registration, students were asked if they want to participate in our experiment.
After their confirmation, they received an additional note on which 10 selected Stupa-O-Mat questions had to be answered.

Furthermore they got asked what they actually voted for because not all voters took part in the experiment and we needed an accurate comparison for our analysis.
To counteract this organizational effort, every ballot had to be thrown in the same ballot box. After the election, the results got analyzed and evaluated by using a unique program, which was written by ourselves.
