The Third Vote - Your political voice

The Students’ Parliament

What does StuPa mean?

StuPa is the abbreviation for Students’ Parliament. As part of this project, the StuPa election is presented in the following. It is the election of the Student Parliament of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The Student Parliament elects the AStA (General Students’ Committee) of the KIT and assigns tasks to it.

What is the StuPa project and what is the StuPa election all about?

To demonstrate the practicality of The Third Vote, an experiment will be conducted in cooperation with the AStA. The election of the authored student body (short: StuPa for Student Parliament) at the KIT is ideal for it because it works like the federal election. Thus, a candidate is elected with the first vote and a student party with the second. In addition, all parties answer political questions of the Stupa-O-Mat. These questions and answers can be used to identify and analyse the political orientation and attitudes of the parties and voters.

The election takes place from 18 to 22 June 2018.
